FAQs
FAQs
How do I enroll in auto pay?
The Fund provides the convenience of free automatic payment processing for your monthly mortgage payment from your checking or savings account. With the automatic mortgage payment withdrawal service, you can choose the date your account is debited--up to the 15th of the month. Visit the Enroll in Auto Pay section for more information. You can also make payments online through the Customer Log In portal. This is a free service, and payments before 2 p.m. will be credited to your account the same day. Otherwise, payments will be credited the next business day.
What do I do if I know I will be late on a payment?
As soon as you know you'll be late on a payment, give us a call at 800-933-1272. Unless otherwise specified, all mortgage payments are due on the first day of each month. If your payment has not been received by the 16th of the month, a late charge will be assessed.
I live near your office. Can I make a payment in-person?
Absolutely! You can come by our office during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday) or use our convenient and secure dropbox, located just outside our gate on the Cracker Barrel side. Payments are retrieved from the dropbox daily.
Why has my payment amount changed?
Your monthly mortgage payment may include taxes and homeowners insurance, or escrow. We add up the amount you owe for the year, divide by 12, and add that to your monthly mortgage payment. The amount you owe in taxes or insurance may change from year to year, which results in a change to your monthly mortgage payment. Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns about your escrow payments.
Do you pay my taxes and insurance for me?
If taxes and insurance (or escrow) are included in your loan, then yes, we do make those payments on your behalf. If you receive a tax ticket in the mail:
Verify that the bill is not a courtesy copy mailed to you for your information, or another insurance type (i.e. auto insurance or personal property tax).
Write your loan number on the bill and send it to us at West Virginia Housing Development Fund Attention: Escrow Department. 5710 MacCorkle Ave SE Charleston, WV 25304 If escrow is not included in your loan, then you are responsible for paying taxes and insurance yourself.
