Fund Partners With Federal Home Loan Bank to Combat Homelessness

Home4Good is a newly-created program developed by the Federal Home Loan Bank Pittsburgh and the West Virginia Housing Development Fund to address unmet and critical needs in the existing Continuums of Care across the state.

The initiative will provide a flexible source of funding for organizations working to address homelessness in West Virginia with the primary objective of ensuring that if an individual is faced with homelessness it is rare, brief and non-recurring.

Young West Virginia Artists Showcase Fair Housing Posters

The West Virginia Housing Development Fund is proud to partner with The West Virginia Human Rights Commission to present their 7th Annual Fair Housing Poster Contest. This year’s theme borrows a phrase from the late Fred Rogers, the eponymous star of the long-running PBS show Mister Rodgers’ Neighborhood. Students from across the state were asked to develop a poster based on the phrase “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

Fund Helps Transform Historic School Into Affordable Housing

FAIRMONT – Judy Marshall has lived in some unique places in Marion County.

Her previous home once belonged to the grandparents of Olympic gold medalist and Fairmont native Mary Lou Retton.

“I can just see little Mary Lou doing flip flops in the living room,” Marshall said of Retton, who, at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, was the first ever American woman to win the all-around gold medal in gymnastics.

In June 2018, The West Virginia Housing Development Fund will  assume administration of the West Virginia Affordable Housing Trust

The Legislature created the the Affordable Housing Trust in 2001 to provide funding for both technical assistance and housing assistance to non-profits and government entities and to encourage stronger partnerships, collaboration and greater involvement of local communities in meeting housing needs in West Virginia. Longtime WVHDF Board Member Resigns

J.D. Stricklen, a longtime member of the West Virginia Housing Development Fund Board of Directors, has resigned.

Stricklen, a pillar of the state’s housing and home building community, served on the board for 12 years.

“J.D. always offered a unique, informed perspective during our board meetings,” said Erica Boggess, the Fund’s Executive Director. “He was a great champion for the Fund and was a tireless advocate for our agency and our programs.”
