The West Virginia Veterans’ Home Loan Mortgage Program was created by the Legislature to provide a flexible pathway to affordable homeownership for the state’s veterans and servicemembers.

Program Details

  • Open to qualified veterans, service members, and surviving spouses of those killed in the line of duty
  • No income limit
  • $350,000 purchase price limit
  • Compatible with the Low Down Home Loan, as long as borrower otherwise qualifies under Homeownership Program guidelines
  • Borrowers can work with any WVHDF lending partner. Click here to view a list of lenders throughout West Virginia.

Eligibility

To qualify, borrowers must:

  • Be a West Virginia resident
  • Be a qualified service member, veteran, or surviving spouse
  • Be a first-time home buyer
  • Complete a WVHDF-approved homebuyer education program
  • Contribute at least $2,500 toward the transaction 
  • Meet minimum credit score and other requirements
