RIPLEY – The West Virginia Housing Development Fund recently celebrated the dedication of Elizabeth Way Apartments.

Erica Boggess, the Fund’s Executive Director, was a featured speaker at the event. dedication of Elizabeth Way Apartments. The building features 16-one bedroom units and 16-two bedroom units. Each apartment features a full kitchen, washer/dryer hookups and state-of-the art climate controls. Residents will also be able to utilize the building’s outdoor gazebo, community room and prayer room.

Elizabeth Way was funded, in part, through the Fund’s Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program. This program generates low-income residential rental units by encouraging private investment through federal tax credits. Since its inception, LIHTCP has produced more than 14,700 affordable rental units in West Virginia.

Also speaking at the event were Kris Warner, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s state rural development director, Ripley Mayor Carolyn Radar and Doug Pauley, the project’s primary developer.

In her remarks, Boggess notes the importance of this type of housing.

“We know we have a serious shortage of adequate elderly housing in our state. Developments like Elizabeth Way serve a critical need for our seniors,” Boggess said. “A number of stakeholders came together to bring this dream to life and we are happy the Fund could partner with so many to help the citizens of Jackson County and the people of West Virginia. “

Also attending the event on the Fund’s behalf were Michelle Wilshere, Senior Manager – Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program; Nate Testman, Division Manager – Multifamily Lending; and Stacey Young – Tax Credit Processor, Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program.
