“We think it’s important to recognize our partners in lending and let them know we appreciate their hard work and dedication to housing,” stated David Rathbun, Senior Director of Single-Family Loan Originations for Fund. “These awards give us the opportunity to say thanks and show our gratitude to the people and organizations who work tirelessly every day to make the dream of home ownership a reality for the people of this great State.”

The awards are based on the number of families served. Rathbun explained, to those who attended the ceremonies, that rather than focus the awards on dollar amount, it is important to remember the main focus is to help families purchase a home.

“We can’t forget that,” Rathbun said. “At the end of the day, our job is to make sure that the people of West Virginia have a safe, dry place to raise their families. By working with all of our partners in the lending community, we can do that.”

Joe Hatfield, Executive Director of the Fund stated “our commitment to quality housing has never wavered, nor has our commitment to our lending partners. Only through teamwork, cooperation and communication can we create the kind of atmosphere that fosters growth and development in the state’s housing industry.”

Ceremonies were held in South Charleston, Martinsburg and Parkersburg. During the event in South Charleston, Howard Tyree, a long time Area Manager for the Fund, was honored for his years of service to the Fund.

The West Virginia Housing Development Fund is the state's affordable mortgage finance agency.
