What should I do if I know I will not be able to make a monthly payment or have already missed a payment?

I cannot afford 2 payments at once. Can I send 1 payment when 2 payments are due?
The WVHDF strongly encourages you to call and discuss the reason(s) for the late payment. It is not our policy to accept 1 payment when 2 or more payments are due without prior contact from you.

All mortgage payments are due on the 1st day of each month.

The WVHDF does not accept partial payments. The full monthly payment must be sent. If a full payment is not possible, call the WVHDF at 1-800-933-1272.
Why does the WVHDF call me in the same month my payment is due?
You should expect a courtesy call, letter or notice as a reminder that your payment has not been received. Our experience has shown those reminders are helpful to most borrowers.
Will missing mortgage payments impact my credit?
Yes, late payments on mortgage accounts are more damaging to your credit than other types of late payments.
What is "Loss Mitigation"?
